The Music
The music of Indigo Down was forged by Hephaestus himself during one of his better moods. He utilised the finest igneous rock and the brightest metals, culminating in a sound and style that people have said they "quite like."
The album, Gin Lane was written and recorded a few years ago but it is being brought out of the vault largely because it's really good. You'll notice a few changes when we play the songs live as firstly, they've been sharpened up and secondly Clive and Martin have added their own personal juices to the proceedings. Plus, if Paul can get over Mike Portnoy leaving Dream Theater, he'll probably play the songs too. And look out for his famous "two, three, four..." backing vocal on 'Fuck Off'. Yes. We have a song called 'Fuck Off'. What's it about? Well, Jez met this girl one day...
Lyrically it's a mixed bag. Jez would use words like dynamics and dialectics but no-one really knows how they truly apply to the situation. Even Jez. But they certainly vary. From the lofty "you are a Mecca for despair" to the ludicrous "she makes my wrist disabled", there's a lot of words to munch upon.
Visitors to the travelling Indigo Down museum will hear a brand new track that will feature on our EP in the Spring. Well, I say new because we're pretending it's new. It wasn't on the album but I think we played it once in Watford. Anyway, it's called 'All the King's Horses' and it's the perfect showcase for Indigo Down 2011. The new sound is a touch heavier, probably due to age and personal bitterness. It also possesses a more progressive nature which is largely the result of Martin's progular upbringing and Paul's laissez-faire approach to lyrical appreciation.
But be not afear'd! Abandon not hope, Sirs and Women! Clive Murray flies the flag for the guttercats, putting the 'riff' in horriffic (sic) and the cream in scream. The prognification of ID is tempered by the Hair Marshall of Hair Metal. Jez likes Nik Kershaw. Make of that what you will.
We intend to make 'Waste of Time' a single release. You can watch the awesome video on this very site! Imagine! It's real guitar-led and hard driven classic rock with one of the catchiest choruses this side of Vilneus. It will probably be your favourite song. You will probably write 'Waste of Time is a rad song and Indigo Down are a well-decent 4-piece UK rock outfit' on toilet (bog) walls - or if you're genuinely hard-up, on bus windows with your finger.
Moreover, the little drummer boy had what we call a 'chunky notion' recently. We have now adopted it as protocol. We all pick one cover song that we like and we have to learn all four. This happens every so often so quite soon we will have a large catalogue of covers to choose from at the end of a gig. Then...YOU GET TO CHOOSE which one we play by voting on the website. Cool huh? Certainly is, Padré...
You can even suggest songs yourselves but please, don't be a goat. We will NOT be covering Glenn Mediros, Foster and Allen, The Four Tops or the Lighthouse Family. Or indeed anything of that hideous and sunken nature. OK?
Now for goodness' sake put some pants on.
